It’s possible for a man to contract a genital yeast infection if he has unprotected sexual intercourse with a partner who has a genital yeast infection. However, just because your girlfriend has a yeast infection doesn’t mean you will get one too. Sexual transmission of yeast infections is uncommon.

Many people are under the impression that only women get genital yeast infections, but men get them too. Prolonged antibiotic use increases the risk of a yeast infection. Also, men with diabetes or impaired immune systems, such as those with HIV, are more susceptible to yeast infections.

Signs and symptoms of a male yeast infection include a reddish rash, itching or burning at the tip of the penis. Fortunately, most male yeast infections are easily treated with an over-the-counter antifungal treatment, such as Monistat (yes, men can use it too). Apply the medication directly to the affected skin twice daily for a week. If the rash doesn’t go away, or if it recurs frequently, consult your doctor.

If you and your partner have symptoms of genital yeast infection, it’s important that you both be treated. Diflucan is a single pill treatment given often to women for yeast infections. Otherwise, you may keep reinfecting each other. Also, it’s generally recommended that you refrain from sexual contact until all signs and symptoms of the infection are gone.

Yes. Although you will not get is as badly as your wife, you can definitely contract a yeast infection, especially if you are not circumcised (circumcised men do get it too, though). If you do notice itchiness simply apply yeat infection cream to the affected area twice a day for a few nights and it will go away.

Edit: yeast; not yeat. I’m getting tired.

Yes, men can get yeast infections also! Do a google image/web search for "male yeast infections" They get way worse than womans as far as visually. Either use a condom (which I would think would cause pain & irritation to her) or WAIT!! Wait 1-2 weeks after she’s treated. Whether it be other the counter medication or Diflucan (oral pill prescribed by the Dr.) It works the quickest i’ve learned. Over the counter creams/gels/suppositories dont work well on me personally. Please don’t wait to get treated! They can get BAD quick. Good luck =)

Yes. Especially if you are uncircumcised. But I would think your wife wouldn’t want to have intercourse during an active case of vaginal yeast.

Yes she can spread the infection to you. You probably won’t have many symptoms, if any at all. What will happen is your wife will be on meds to treat her yeast infection but if you don’t take anything, you will be carrying the infection, so every time you two have sex, you will just be spreading it back to her. What I am trying to say is, make sure you get some kind of antibiotic or whatever along with your wife so that way you can both rid yourself of the infection and not spread it back and forth to one another.
