Does my son have a yeast infection or smegma?

Well, recently I have seen my son itching the "place" but thought he was in puberty or something so I took no notice of it, but he had a shower yesterday and asked me " Do all men have whitle flakes on their penis?" so I said no but he said he had white bits. So I took a closer look and yes there was white bits under his foreskin.
Is this smegma or a yeast infection if it’s a yeast infection what do I do? .

    that would be smegma

did you ever think about teaching your son how to was his penis properly?
tell him to wash tyhe head with warm water only (do not use soap) and make sure he dries the head very well before letting the skin back down

I dont know whats more disturbing – Your son’s problem, or the fact that you took a look.

    Take him to a doctor.

That’s most likely simply Smegma yes, and I wouldn’t be too concerned about it. Males getting thrush in their genitalia is very rare, and is usually from very poor hygiene. The fact that your son noticed the ‘white flakes’ means that he’s cleaning properly and thus even more unlikely that it’s a yeast infection. However if he starts to develop a rash as well and begins to get these white flakes on the outer parts of his genitalia, it might be something worth getting a doctor to check out.

Either, sounds like smegma, he just needs to make sure he washes with an unperfumed soap under it gently and drys it properly.

I hope you’re not too disturbed

If it is a yeast infection it would be bright red and irritated. If it is smegma, it would appear as white flakes. Smegma has received a bad rap over the years. It is actually beneficial. The foreskin/glans combination produce a powerful anti microbial compound in smegma. It is natures way of keeping the area clean and disease free. When urine deposits and seminal secretions accummulate in the smegma, it manifests itself as white build up. This is still healthy, but it does produce a strong odour. This area is best washed with water only. Using soap can leave fragrance and soap deposits. If these soap deposits are on your arm and stay dry, no problem,…if there are under the foreskin where it is moist, they can cause irritation. The best thing is to retract the foreskin during the daily shower and rinse with clean, clear water only. This will keep the build-up at bay, and leave the healthy disease fighting compounds in place.
I am the father of four sons who are naturally intact, the way they were born. The intact penis requires no additional care other than gentle cleaning during the shower. Nature has a well established way of looking after things.
There is an informative link below that will give you information.
    Good luck with this.
