I had/have a vaginal yeast infection, and it’s mostly gone, but now the yeast infection is… external?

It seems to have spread to my butt and just… the whole external vaginal area, but it’s almost all gone from my vagina (which was causing the worst of the pain) I’ve been taking Monistat 3 day and tonight is the last. I can deal with an external yeast infection if I know it’s gonna go away and not jump back into my vagina. lol

Guess… I’m just wondering if this is normal?

An external yeast infection is normal. It may or may not ‘jump’ back inside you. Here’s some things to try or an external yeast infection and they worked for me:

    1. Put a tsp of apple cider vinegar in a 6-8 ounce glass of water and drink it 2-3 times a day.

    2. Mix a tsp of Hydrogen Peroxide in a cup of water and pour over the area 2-4 times a day.

It might be some other kind of infection, or maybe even an STD. See your doctor, I’ve had plenty of yeast infections before and been on antibiotics and gels. I’m a pharmacy technician and I’ve never heard of an "external" yeast infection.

It’s normal don’t worry, and it’s the same infection that was inside. The best thing to do when treating a yeast infection is to insert the cream and also put some on the outside so this doesn’t happen. You might still have some of the fungus in your vagina so I would recommend going out and buying the cream medication, not the suppositories and applying it a couple times a day externally and then at night into the vagina also. It won’t hurt. Also eat yogurt daily to help prevent infections and to help speed up clearing up this one.
