You should use plain, unsweetened yogurt with live bio cultures. However, if this is a recurring infection, you are better off treating it this way:

Tea tree oil is much more effective than yogurt. Put two drops of tea tree oil into 5 ml. of almond oil or olive oil [NOT just any cooking oil] and apply with either a dropper or put onto a tampon and leave the tampon inside for a couple of hours. Then, take pro-biotic capsules [by mouth] with at least 10 billion bacteria per capsule three times a day. Stay away from all sugar in your diet for a good couple of weeks and you will see that with the above it will make quite a difference.

You must also make sure that you are wiping from front to back when you have a bowel movement, as the yeast is coming from your digestive tract and getting into your vagina.

All yogurt has some natural sugar in it because it’s a dairy product, and dairy products contain lactose which is a milk sugar. What you should do is read the ingredients and see if there is any added sugar, including evaporated cane juice which is a type of sugar. If the only ingredient is yogurt, then you’re fine, but if there is anything else added to it as a sweetener, even if it’s an all natural sweetener like cane juice, then you’ll want to return it and buy something with absolutely no added sugar of any kind.

I don’t know if you’re eating the yogurt or applying it to the actual area, but either way I’d go with something like Fage or Oikos plain Greek yogurt. It has very little sugar and is thicker and creamier than regular yogurt, and is also higher in protein and calcium so if you are eating it, you’ll get that added benefit.

    Good luck!

The lactic acid producing bacteria that is in yogurt is not the same that inhabits the vagina….so, basically, what you are doing is slathering the holiest of holies with dairy-goo that is going to get rather nasty in your drawers….

However, that said, if you can find Kefir (a fermented milk product that is usually available at health food grocers) that contains lactobacillus planarium in it….and if you drink about a dixie cup of that a few times a day (think those little cups you see at the Dentist….or a double shot glass) – it might help….they produce lactic acid as well, and unlike the bacteria in yogurt, those will cross into the vaginal canal….

That said….one of the best "natural" cures for a yeast infection is to try to hold out until you have your period….and don’t use tampons….menstrual blood regulates the pH of the vaginal canal rather well – and yeast infections are typically a result of altered vaginal pH – - that is, if you are really dealing with a yeast infection….which, if you have tried treating it through conventional means, and keep having it come back, rule out the cause….such as diabetes, etc….shoot, a lot of vaginal infections resemble yeast, but aren’t…which often explains why they dont respond to medications for yeast….

    Good Luck

If you have a recurring yeast infection using yogurt or any of those creams/pills are only going to work for a short period of time. It sounds like you have a classic candida problem, this can only be cured by doing a candida cleanse and by following a yeast-free sugar-free diet for at least 2-3 months. :D

I’m glad u noticed the sugar was a bad idea. Sugar is food for the yeast.

To cure yeast internally, take threelac. It is super effective probiotics

topically, apply organic cold pressed virgin coconut oil. It has lauric acid which kills yeast. I buy mine from nutiva.com

google threelac and yeast infection cure/Candida
