Yeast infection and vaginal suppositories?

Just curious if anyone was ever prescribed a vaginal suppository for a yeast infection during pregnancy. My Obgyn prescribed Terconazole Vaginal suppositories, 80 mg. He said it was very safe during pregnancy but I really would rather not take any medication if possible during pregnancy. The yeast infection is not causing any discomfort but I’m afraid it will eventually if i don’t take the medication. Any thoughts or simialr experiences on this matter would be very appreciated.

I had a look around on the internet and alot of places say that Terconazole is commonly used during pregnancy. If you feel that you don’t really need to be taking the medicine or that you were wrongly prescribed, I would recommend that you simply go and see another doctor. Even though you don’t have any discomfort at the moment, the medication could stop it from getting worse.
If you’re concerned about any medicine you’re taking while pregnant, it’s best to get a second opinion.

I would do what my doctor says and treat the yeast infection. Remember, the baby arrives in the world through the vagina that the yeast infection is in and you could pass this onto your baby.

Personally if the yeast infection is not causing any discomfort, I would hold off on all yeast infection medications. My doctor had told me that if it does get bad enough, the baby might have thrush from the child birth which is very easily treated. Like I said, if it is not bothering you I would wait until after you give birth. Good luck!

I have used the same prescription for a yeast infection during pregnancy and everything went fine. If you don’t treat the infection you may itch, burn, or even swell up "down there".
