can a yeast infection be transfered from a man to a woman once she gets treated and take antibiotics have sex?

My girl went to get a check up for STD and HIV all the test were negative but she was diagnosed with a yeast infection. The doctor put her on antibiotics and she was cured however I did not take anything because i didnt think it would transfer to me but when we had sex Monday and today is Thursday she said her symptoms have come back and I wondered if I passed it back to her. I have symptoms of a burning sensation when i entered her but i kept going because her vagina usually is tight. So she started complaining that it hurt and i dont know what to do.

Certainly a yeast infection can be passed back and forth. It is not really an STD and is easily treated with an OTC yeast infection med or prescribed oral Diflucan. (which takes awhile to clear up.) Many women have several bouts are are prone to yeast infections. I have many myself and I am not sexually active now . I have never been put on an antibiotic for a yeast infection. I wonder if there is more going on here than a simple yeast infection. Women naturally have yeast inside them but it is when the acid/alkaline in her system gets out of control or out of balance , a yeast infection occurs.
I think it is admirable for her to get tested for STD’s and HIV. I believe it is one of the kindest things you can do for your partner. I also feel that all sexually active or previously sexually active people should be tested for HIV and actually carry a card signed by a doctor that they are HIV negative. After all….you are playing with someone’s life if you contract AIDS and pass it around.
Men won’t have the same symptoms with a yeast infection so the burning could be from the yeast infection or something else you contracted.
The yeast infection should be totally cleared up before you have sex, so as not to keep passing it back and forth.
While you may think that the tightness in a woman with a yeast infection is pleasurable to you…..it is not for a woman. A woman is dry during this time and it is not pleasurable for a woman. Give it time and let her heal and you will both experience pleasure once again. The white curdly dischage of a yeast infection is visible. Wait for the all clear sign which can vary according to how badly the yeast infection has spread. Many women including myself are very prone to yeast infections and not just from having sex. It can be from colored toilet paper, douches, perfumed body washes, bubble baths, wet bathing suits, etc. If you want your partner to enjoy sex again……you will just have to wait. You don’t want to keep it going by passing it back and forth do you?
    Patience my dear man!

Go to the doctor with her so both of you can be treated. Otherwise, it will continue to pass back and forth between you.

Yeah – she still had thrush, and you both reinfected yourselves. Men don’t always have symptoms, so she needs to go back to the chemist for more treatments. you should ask a chemist for more advice too.

You can get it and then give it back to her… You both need to be treated at the same time…

Yes u can stil get , you are not supposed to have intercourse til the infection is completly gone, which is usually when antibiotics are gone. But in some cases, a woman can take all the antibiotics and perhaps they wernt strong enough and can stil have the infection. You should both get on antibiotics for it. good luck

yes that is possible. If you are experiencing problems you should also see a doctor.

Okay, spare me the details of your girlfriends vagina but seriously, in most cases antibiotics get rid of the bacteria in two days. But if she’s yeasty, I’m not so sure.

As I always say, abstinence makes the heart grow stronger!

I hate to tell you this, but antibiotics will only make the yeast infection worse and are often the CAUSE of a yeast infection. Are you SURE she was put on antibiotics or was she put on anti-fungal medication? Antibiotics kill the "bad" bacteria which is naturally found in the vagina, resulting in a overgrowth of the "good" bacteria which causes a yeast infection.

And, yes, a yeast infection can be passed from a female to a male, and vice versa through sex.

She might still have the infection. Sometimes a 2nd dose of anti fungal medication (like fluconazole) is needed to completely get rid of the infection.

Umm… You don’t take antibiotics for a yeast infection. Antibiotics can actually cause a yeast infection. You put on a cream, or sometimes take an oral anti-fungal pill. She must be lying to you or confused. If it really is a yeast infection, then you can feel itchy if you have sex with her, and it might be possible to give it back to her. She could try an over the counter cream like monistat to get rid of her yeast infection.

    JustinCase Says:

First off, make sure your penis is clean when you insert it. Take a shower, or wash it off in the sink. Wash your hands too.

It is possible to transfer a yeast infection pretty much anywhere it has moist enough conditions to grow. I once contracted a yeast infection in my mouth. That was terribly unpleasant for me. I know for a FACT that a yeast infection can be contageous. It’s just a fungus that needs a moist place to thrive.

By now, she should understand the symptoms of a yeast infection well enough to tell if you gave it back to her.

Maybe you 2 could get into the shower together next time and start things off there. She may just have a little irritation from you inserting a penis that wasn’t completely clean into her. Sweat and dirt will cause irritation and possibly infection, but not necessarily a yeast infection.

They only give anti-biotics to people with bacterial infections like clemedia, gonorea or syphilis. Bad shit but it’s easily treated. Make sure she doesn’t have something more serious that she may have passed on to you.

    Indigo Says:

If you got it from her and did not know it yet, you could certainly give it back. Just washing up likely isn’t going to cure an infection on you. Really, you should have both been treated, I have heard that a cream treatment from a drug store for the infection works fine for men, but would be good to ask the doctor.

    MELISSA B Says:

It is possible to pass a yeast infection back and forth between sexual partners if both are not treated.
Are you sure it was a yeast infection that your girl had though? A doctor would not prescribe an antibiotic to treat a yeast infection… antibiotics are used to treat bacterial infections (like gonorrhea, chlamydia, BV, etc). Not only would an antibiotic not work, but it could make a yeast infection worse.
Go get yourself checked out by your own doctor or at a clinic for all STDs. I hope everything works out okay for you.

no it is not transferable but you have to be careful it is the littlest thing that can cause a woman to get an infection it good come from your hands being dirty when she go to use it not wiping good enough any little thing so no baby it is not you transferring it back to her

Trying to do the right thing Says:

Yes. It is possible for a couple to pass the infection back and forth. If she was treated, but you weren’t, you could give it right back to her. Anytime someone in a relationship needs to be treated for a bacterial STD or a yeast infection, both should be treated just to make sure you don’t keep trading it.

By the way, antibiotics do not treat yeast infections. In fact, they can cause them. Yeast is treated with an anti-fungal or a pro-biotic. Are you sure she was treated for yeast and not something else?
