Can yoplait light or activia help cure a yeast infection?

I believe I have both a UTI and a yeast infection. (itching, burning when I wipe, etc) For the UTI, I am drinking cranberry juice, but I am unsure what to do about the yeast infection. I am afraid to take antibiotics for the UTI in fear of making the yeast infection worse.

I read that yogurt helps cure a yeast infection. I have a lot of Yoplait Light yogurts and Dannon Activia yogurts in my fridge already, would eating these help at all? Is there anything else I should try to help get rid of the yeast infection? Help!
will putting plain yogurt down there reduce the itching/burning/discomfort?

Due to the multiple symptoms you are experiencing I really think it would be best if you went to a doctor for proper diagnosis. It could be something which needs treatment, and if you have been sexually active could be an STD.

I got my first and only UTI not that long ago. I drank ridiculous amounts of water and cranberry juice all day in hopes of flushing it out. It didn’t work. I spent two months in a good deal of urinary pain and finally went to the doctor and antibiotics took care of it in a week. Cranberry Juice and water are really preventative measures for urinary tract infections, and don’t do much once you already have one.

The bacteria in yogurt can get rid of a yeast infection. Inserting one tampon covered in yogurt and leaving it in overnight should take care of the problem. Repeat another night if it does not. Only use plain yogurt. Alternatively, you could get a yeast infection treatment product from the pharmacy. I really advise you get this checked by a doctor prior to treatment though.

    Good luck :)

it will help get rid of it but you will have to eat a lot. any kind of yogurt will help a yeast infection, the bacteria in it helps your ph level to stay normal. for the uti blueberries help just as much as cranberries if not better. i drink blue-cranberry juice and it really helps to get rid of a uti, but cranberry will do. just try to keep yourself clean down there and try not to scratch. hope this helps hun and good luck!

well i think "member four" is right. u need to go to the doctor ASAP and get antibiotics which well help relieve symptoms almost immediately rather than u drinking tons of water/cranberry juice/eating yogurt, plus bladder spasm can be painful and annoying and no yogurt in the world is going to relieve that.. yogurt is good at preventing getting a yeast infection, but as far as cure no, i dont know of any scientific evidence that proves that. so i say, go get ur meds, and tip: be sure and pee after sex to prevent the UTI from happening again, or if u didn’t have sex, eat that yogurt/wipe front to back/wear cotton undies/and perform perineal care often to prevent the yeast infection from happening again. also FYI: often times yeast infections occur after one gets a UTI because of the anti-biotics used for the UTI. sulfa drugs like cipro are used for UTI and this can wipe out all the healthy bacteria(flora) u need in the vagina which then causes the yeast infection to grow

if you have yeast infection then you must get rid of it as soon as it is possible!!!

if you really want to get rid of yeast infection then you must follow these tips – they worked for me:

    1) Eat yogurt!!!! It contains helpful bacteria (live cultures, including acidophilus and bifidus) that destroy yeast. Use only plain yogurt with active cultures.

    2) Douche with a solution of 1 to 3 tbsp. vinegar in a quart of water. Repeat once a day while having symptoms, but no longer than a week.

    3) Decrease or eliminate sugar and sugary foods. Sugar promotes yeast growth.

    4) Use a garlic clove as a suppository. Garlic contains a natural anti-fungal agent.

    5) Try gentian violet. It’s a traditional remedy for yeast and other infections, and can be found in pharmacies. Swab the area with it once or twice a day. Make sure to use a thick pad – it stains everything.

    6) Use an herbal douche. Combine equal amounts of sage, raspberry and comfrey with 1/4 part goldenseal. This can be combined with cider vinegar.

    7) also you should use some herbal treatment. In that case Yeastrol is really good (probably the best) product that gets rid of yeast infection comparatively fast and makes you feel more confident knowing that it wont reappear again!
And of course it is better if you use full course (5 months – if I remember correctly). For me it worked very fast + I dont get yeast infections anymore (almost 2 years) …
